Identity Project Idea- The way you see yourself vs the way you are Perceived

One of my favorite Video Artists is John Herschend (http://jonnherschend.com) who came to SFSU to give an Artist Talk last semester.  Most of his videos start out as what seems to be a commercial production but slowly it starts to take a turn for the worst ending in a hilarious mess.  For this project I would like to use Herschend's work as my inspiration.

Recently, I was watching a video of myself and a friend at the ripe age of 15.  I was appalled by how much I was fidgeting and fixing my hair.  I don't think my hands ever left the top of my head really.  It reminded me of videos I'll watch on Youtube of girls explaining something but they can't stop messing with their hair... ITS SO DISTRACTING!  So for my minute long video I was thinking about taking this to an extreme level.  I'll act like I'm just a Youtube video blogger sharing with the world how to boost your confidence.  The irony will be that although I'm telling people how to be more secure I will be looking at myself in the mirror behind the camera and insecurely fixing my hair non stop.  I will start just adjusting my bangs with my hands, then start using a comb and brush, hair straightener, blow dryer, hairspray, and ending with rollers.

I'm hoping it will turn out as funny as I imagine it to be.  I'm sure I'm not the only one who is distracted by the constant "hair fixers" of Youtube, so I think other people will get it too.
